It seems that certain psychologists get nicknames based on characteristics of
their work; for examples,Leo Buscaglia was referred to as "Dr.Hug".I would
refer to Mischel as Mr.situational personality, but Schachter certainly deserves
to be called Mr.externality.I do not think that Schachter ever saw an
externality he did not like.Scott reminded me that the shelled-unshelled peanut
study had to do with obeses subjects being more sensitive to external cues for
eating,(Personally I do not believe that).Schachter is also noted for another
externality when he developped the Schachter -Singer theory of emotion which
purports to explain emotions in terms of cognitive interpretation of prevailing
experiencing situations. If if I recall his theory correctly (please do not
quote me on this),he injected subjects with epinephrine and different subjects
were placed with different confederates displaying different emotional
tones. The emotions experienced by epinephrine subjects matched the situations
they were in.

Btw,are their nicknames for the following: Skinner.Maslow,Hull.Freud,Jung,Bruno
Bettelheim.Chtistopher Green.Mike Palij,Sue Franz,Ed Pollack (Mr.rollin my
sweet baby's arms) and Scott (Mr.noted evidence) ?
Anyone deserves to be called of Mr.touchy feely(Louis Schmier?)
