The NY Times has an article on a promising technique that
may allow physicians to accurately diagnosis the presence of
Alzheimer's disease in living patients (the "gold standard" for
diagnosing Alzhemier's is brain autopsies).  With the use
of a new dye that appears to selectively stain for plaques,
it appears that PET scans may be able to distinguish true
Alzheimer's cases from non-Alzheimer's cases (e.g., people
with memory problem but on autopsy show no plaques).
