Well Jack Hanna-Dean emeritus of  going wild- had a quintessential encounter 
with a grizzly in Montana.He came close to
being a delicious dinner for the grizzly,but the pepper spray was too much of 
an aversive stimuli.
I guess one advantage of being an experimental psychologist is that we do not 
have to go meet our subjects,we bring them to  a lab for
our own convenience (without surprises)and our lab coats can still remain 
squeaky clean.
