The NY Times has published a Q&Q with neuroscientists John
Donoghue who has been working on an electronic interface
between the brain and devices outside of the body, primarily
for use with people spinal cord injuries, ALA, or other conditions
that prevents them from using their body to engage in behavior/actions.

The research is in an early stage but it has great promise.
The article may be useful for certain classes.
