Psychology was also a victim of politicization under the Nazis. Many of the Gestaltists were forced out, of course (Wertheimer and Koffka were Jewish). Otto Selz (whose model of chess-laying would inspire Herb Simon in the 1950s to write game-playing computer programs) died in the camps, as I recall (there's some good work on him Ter Hark*). Geoerge Mandler has a good chapter about the Nazi takeover of psychology in his history of psych textbook. There's also a good article by Mary Henle about Koehler (who was not Jewish) staying until students began to vandalize his lab: “One Man Against the Nazis-Wolfgang Kohler,” American.
