Over the weekend I was reading about an iphone app that uses GPS determine when
an alcoholic (who has the app on his phone) is near an area where there are a
lot of bars. The app then pops up a warning on the phone's screen which
suggests that the person avoid this area (and so avoid temptation).

So is this next: a mobile phone app that “knows” the layout of your campus and
the disciplines housed in each building such that when the student enters the
psychology building, the phone could pop up homework reminders or a calendar of
upcoming tests?

Could get creepy though if your phone says, “I notice you’re in the library
now. Here’s your reading list for that test on Monday...”.
