Reminiscent of the famous doll study done by  Kenneth Clark (born and raised in 
Panama),a father who adopted an Ethiopian orphan girl was disturbed by the 
observation that his daughter often expressed and fantasized about long blonde 
hair.In order to boost his daughter's self esteem and image about the beauty of 
black hair,he was instrumental in having Sesams Street air programs featuring a 
black character singing joyfully about the beauty of the African heritage hair.
      Thanks to the media it is now possible to present positive images of 
African physical
and other characteristics.I hope to take the doll study to African enclaves in 
Peru and Bolivia and see if the the Afro-Peruvian and Afro-Bolivian
children hold similar attitudes toward blonde hair.
 Please note that since this is Hispanic Heritage Month,I am devoting some of 
my posts to Latin America. Affiliated tipsters are invited to post.
