Tipsters who are not members of APA probably have not gotten the memo that there is a new President (i.e., President Elect) of APA. Below is "boilerplate" from one of the divisional emails I've received:
|Following are the number of votes each candidate received |in the order of finish and below is Dr. Bennett Johnson¹s |biographical statement. The tally sheet will be made available |upon request. | |Suzanne Bennett Johnson, PhD 7662 votes |Donald N. Bersoff, PhD, JD 5264 votes |Paul L. Craig, PhD 3459 votes |Robert ³Bob² H. Woody, PhD, ScD, JD 2553 votes |Armand R. Cerbone, PhD 1563 votes A couple of notes: (1) Suzanne Johnson got her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at SUNY-Stony Brook with K. Dan O'Leary. Though I also got my Ph.D. at Stony Brook (but in experimental) I believe she preceded me and have no memory of ever meeting her. I think I voted for her because Sue O'Leary sent alumni an email in support of her election. Johnson might be a positive for science in APA. (2) I am amazed at how few members of APA voted. The sum of votes cast above is 20,501. I don't know the exact number of voting APA members but I do believe that it is over 100K. Voting was web-based this year in addition to paper ballot. I voted online because I couldn't be bothered to find the paper ballot among my papers. I wonder whether the nuimber of people voting is down from previous years (as is the number of full members, see: http://www.apa.org/monitor/2010/06/ceo.aspx ). -Mike Palij New York University [email protected] --- You are currently subscribed to tips as: [email protected].
