And also, if the "author" of the paper turns out to have a different name or initials than the student, ask the student if he/she used someone else's computer, and if so, what is that person's name. That cleared one up for me, when there was clearly a different name. Without telling the student the name that I'd found, I asked if she'd used someone else's computer. She said she had, her boyfriend's - and when prompted, gave his name, which matched the document. So that at least removed that suspicion.
