With so many heroes parading around in U.S cities and the U.S media and President Obama coronating heroes in Tucson,I have began to observe that there seem to be a penchant to declare lots of people heroes.It is beginning to remind me of the "self-esteem" agenda. I am not sure if the Aussies are declaring first responders in Brisbane as heroes. Anyway,with so many people donning the hero mantel,this would seem to suggest that the "diffusion of responsibility" paradigm re Kitty Genovese may not be concurrently valid. Btw,why don't we declare humans that save animsls a heroes? Sociobiological human self-aggrandizement, maybe?
