This seems unlikely on a number of grounds, in particular that
Descartes ever entered a bar, much less drink a berr (or even a
beer).

No, the true story is this:

Rene Descartes was meeting with his pupil, Queen Christina of
Sweden, in her cold castle in Sweden on a cold February at 5:00 am.
to discuss philosophy. It was cold (but I think you know that).

"Rene", commanded the Queen, "Do have a cup of hot tea". Descartes
replied, and the rest is history.

And after disappearing, his bones have been alleged to have turned up
in various places--his skull in the Musée de l'Homme in Paris, and
most of the remainder either in a tomb at St. Germain-des-Pres or
plowed under a Paris street. No one has a clue where his forefinger
may have gone.
