The fact that a video is posted on Youtube tells you nothing about its copyright status. Some Youtube videos are public domain, other times the copyright belongs to the person who posted the video, and others are illegal copies of copyrighted material. In theory Youtube deletes copyright violations, but not always quickly or regularly enough to make any assumptions.
