This is not about the Jerry Lee Lewis song. But the shaken-baby
syndrome seems to have become questionnable in a recent court case. The parents
reported that the baby fell backwards and this resulted in an injury to the
back of the head. The parents were accused of shaking the baby in a manner that
led to retinal damage.
However medical experts were able to demonstrate that such retinal damage can
occur in a baby if the baby fell backwards injuring the occipital brain
area.(Homunculus)
Just as some parents, professionals, and others have been falsely accused of
abuse in daycares and other institutions, it is expected that shaken-baby
syndrome reports could come under more investigative
scientific scrutiny.
