I would think that in modern behavior analysis the craving would be considered 
a covert behavior and the rubber band snapping is an aversive outcome that 
serves as punishment for engaging in that behavior.  Whatever elicits that 
craving (smell of smoke, places where smoking used to occur) would be the S(d).

in S-R-O terminology: S = smell of smoke R = craving O = pain from rubber band 
snap.
