I have used backchan.nl (a free MIT product) in conference
presentations, but I haven't yet used it in class. I say 'yet' because
I intend to launch it in at least one of my classes in the fall. I may
not be able to address all of the student questions during class, but I
should be able to after class via the class listserv or discussion
board. I'm hoping to provide a forum for some of my quieter students,
including students who come from cultures where interrupting the speaker
with a question or comment is considered very rude.

Here's the blog post I wrote about it.
