Jim Clark asked about short courses. University of Wisconsin Eau Claire offers
three week sessions in January (Winterim) and Spring (Interim after spring
semester and prior to start of summer session). The w/interim courses that meet
in person run 3 hours per day for 5 days a week for 3 weeks (45 hours) which is
equivalent to 1 hour per day 3 times a week for 15 weeks (45 hours) in the fall
and spring terms. Under these circumstances, time and coverage are about the
same. The major disadvantage of Winterim is that we start the spring term later
and typically finish later than other institutions.
