Hi

Following NY Times article discusses upcoming issue of American
Psychologist that focuses on failure to observe expected negative
psychological consequences of Sept 11 attacks among large proportion of
the population and negative findings for early intervention.

It cites McNally, who earlier wrote about the limits of trauma
debriefing and like early interventions. See

McNally RJ, Bryant RA, Ehlers A. Does early psychological
intervention promote recovery from posttraumatic stress disorder?.
Psychological Science in the Public Interest 2003;4(2):45*79.

I'm not sure "psychology's limits" is completely accurate given the
scientific psychology literature on this issue. Perhaps "pop
psychology's limits" would be better label?

Take care
Jim
