Ther have been some journals in the the past that have encouraged replications (e.g., Journal of Socical Behavior and Personality) but they are few and far between. This New Yoker piece by Lehrer indicates that replications tend to produce weaker effect sizes over time. I think it reinforces the importance of publishing replications.
