Not to mention what if you are stranded on a desert island and you need to know
the relevant statistic for testing the hypothesis of your agricultural study.
Who is going to bring their stat book along on a three hour cruise? Given the
small likelihood of cell coverage, and the fact that you might be contending
with real angry birds, this is likely to be one of the few uses for your iPhone
on the island).

Yes, most stat books do seem to include decision trees. But what if you don't
have your stat book with you when the need to decide on the proper statistic
suddenly and unexpectedly arises in conversation? ;)

Students will always be carrying their smartphones around with them, but
probably the same can't be said for their stat book.

I just took a look in the Apple App store and I can't believe it - no one has
created such an app yet! There is a niche to be filled my friend. A mountain
waiting to be climbed!

All tongue in cheek, but if it's easy enough to build, then, heck - why not.

Don't most statistics textbooks include such a decision tree? I know there's
one on the inside back cover of Howell's Fundamental statistics for the
behavioral sciences, which I'll be using for my 2nd year stats course next term.

I remember using these decision trees. You know what? "There ought to be an
app for that!" I'd be willing to make the app and put it on the app store for
free if we can identify what info would make for the best tree. I think that
could be a handy app for students.
