Apart from its controversy, reparative therapy has some basis in learning
theory. After all it is a well held principle that behavior which
is learned can also be unlearned. There was a time when psychology was hell
bent on the idea that there was a conditioning aspect to virtually all
behavior.Recall the ethological versus the conditioning
debates of earlier years.Psychology made the so called Fixed action
patterns of ethological theory subject to emvironmental influemces'I do find it
interesting that psychogy has failed to allow for the learning aspects of gay
behavior,It attacks the choice paradigm (Humanistic
perspective) leaving one to readily accept the Lady Gaga" born this way"
deterministic perspective.
Ironically, there is a deterministic perspective to learned behavior. It is
called reinforcement.
