Thanks for the heads-up on this show. I'd not seen anything about it. I've now
set the DVR to record a couple of upcoming eps.

ps: Annette, don't you know we need permission to talk about he who shall not
be named? LOL! I did enjoy learning about Banacek and that folks had done some
work on questions I had. Maybe we can start a new list to talk about such
things: "Discussions about the psychologist who shan't be named lest we appear
overly defensive, to actually be believers, or to have nothing better to do
than to discuss the study that arguably single-handedly provided the greatest
undermining of the perception of the scientific basis of psychology in the past
20+ years." A bit unwieldy as an email list name, but it captures the issue
rather well, I think.

No, it's not a typo; I've caught a show on the history channel a couple of
times since my return on statistics in everyday life called the United Stats of
America. Anyone else seen it? What do you think?

Since I have only seen two episodes I thought the two were quite good and
interesting but a bit weak on explaining some of the stats methods. I am
thinking of having a homework assignment in intro where students might have to
evaluate an episode for what else you'd want to know before believing the
show's conclusions based just on their presentation.

ps: great Bem-bash-fest because ultimately it lead to a couple of excellent
resources regarding good readings in Skept Inq and I like the tip on Banachek
and project alpha. I will have to look for what project alpha is all about but
sounds like another great intro homework assignment ;) I like to give frequent
homework (dare I admit that daily sounds good to me?) in intro that is painless
but applies course work. Sort of like a service-learning model, haha.
