I totally agree Scott that it would be very interesting to learn what
Tranel picked up on Holmes that made him so vehement about denying his
acceptance. Tranel's exact words were, "Do NOT offer admission under any
circumstances."  However, a serious omission in the Yahoo article is they
do not mention that the decision was made after Holmes was interviewed, at
least according to the Denver Post article.  Therefore, the title in the
Yahoo article could be significantly misleading as it would seem far more
likely that the vehemence of Tranel's decision was more influenced by the
interview than the letter.


Relative to why Tranel and another fellow, Cunningham, both recommended
not accepting Holmes, they have refused to discuss this and for
understandable legal reasons.   But why was this same young man able to
obtain reasonable reference letters from a number of sources?  It makes
one question that entire process.  Whatever, wonder if Tranel will be one
of the witnesses for the defense as they wish to claim Holmes is mentally
ill.  Suspect Tranel would provide some support for that claim?
