Remember last year when the CDC warned us about the impending zombie apocalypse? In case you missed, you can search the TiPS archive about it or just go to the CDC website: http://www.cdc.gov/phpr/zombies.htm
They've added new material to the website, so it's worth another look. And just in case you wondering, no, we did not have a zombie apocalypse since then (the Republican presidential convention notwithstanding ;-), but now Homeland Security is getting into the act. Their thinking is: If you can survive a zombie apocalypse, you can survive anything. Of course, the popular media has picked up on this and you can read it for yourself here: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/zombie-alert-issued-homeland-security-article-1.1154245 and/or here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2200150/The-ZOMBIES-coming-Government-warns-living-dead-pandemic-amusing-campaign-prepare-Americans-genuine-disasters.html and/or here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/06/homeland-security-warns-the-zombies-are-coming_n_1862768.html It should be noted that Huffpost has been reassured by that though there have a couple of incidents of cannibalism recently, this in no way foreshadows the coming zombie apocalypse; see the following for CDC's statement: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/06/01/cdc-denies-zombies-existence_n_1562141.html Just keep in mind that the zombie apocalypse is likely to occur when you least expect it so make sure that you have a stockpile of food, water, ammo, and keep practicing your headshots. ;-) -Mike Palij New York University [email protected] --- You are currently subscribed to tips as: [email protected].
