The Department of Psychology at Appalachian State University invites applications for the Stanley R. Aeschleman Distinguished Professorship in Psychology. Appointment to this nine-month faculty position will be made at the rank of Professor, with tenure. The start date for this position is August 15, 2013. Requirements for the position are a Ph.D. in Psychology and a demonstrated record of outstanding accomplishment in the field of behavior analysis, including a successful record of obtaining external support for research activities.

The holder of the Distinguished Professorship will be expected to maintain a high-level of externally funded scholarship and leadership beyond the institution. Responsibilities of this position include undergraduate and graduate instruction, being available for consultation with faculty, researchers, and members of the community, and contributing to the University in ways appropriate to their expertise.

Appalachian State University is a member institution of the sixteen-campus University of North Carolina System. Located in Boone, North Carolina, the University has approximately 17,000 students and has been ranked by US News and World Report as one of the top 15 among southern regional universities since 1986. The Wiley F. Smith Department of Psychology at Appalachian State University has a long and distinguished history of providing teaching, research, and community outreach. The Department has 35 full-time doctoral level faculty members, approximately 980 undergraduate majors and 70 full-time graduate students in four master's degree programs including General/Experimental, Clinical Health, Industrial Organizational/Human Resource Management, and School Psychology, with the latter also providing a specialist degree in addition to the MA. The Department provides a clinic for training, research, and service to the community. The faculty is dedicated to mentoring students and to offering opportunities for experiential learning.
