Applications are invited for the position of Head of the Department of
Psychology at the University of Northern Iowa. The Psychology Department
employs faculty with heterogeneous interests, who are all committed to
excellence in both teaching and research. The Department is seeking
candidates who recognize and support the dynamic nature of the department,
advocate for faculty and students within the university system, and
facilitate equitable treatment of all faculty members and students.  Candidates
having received a Ph.D. in psychology (any area of specialty) with a
distinguished record of teaching and research suitable for a tenured
appointment at the rank of full professor will be considered. The
successful candidate must also possess academic administrative experience,
such as department head, program coordinator, or other leadership roles in
academic programs. The Department encourages applications from persons of

commensurate with qualifications and experience. The department head is
responsible for department budget, class schedules, evaluations of faculty,
providing leadership, and overseeing the general operations of the
department. Normally, the department head teaches one course in both the
fall and spring semesters and one course during the summer session. The
Department of Psychology is located in the College of Social and Behavioral
Sciences, and consists of 19 Ph.D.-level faculty members representing all
major areas of psychology. It enrolls approximately 450 undergraduate
students, contributes to the university-wide General Education academic
curriculum, and offers a Master’s degree program for approximately 25
graduate students with emphases in Clinical Science and Social Psychology,
as well as an Individualized Study option. This appointment will begin July
