I wrote three chapters that were contracted for a larger volume series authored
by another party. The publisher pulled the project. If you know someone who is
writing an abnormal
psychology book they may find these chapters useful: History of Mental Illness
& Treatment, Psy Theories and Treatment and the Law, and DSM History & Uses
(which would need to be revised to incorporate the revised DSM-V). These
chapters were written with the student in mind who may have difficulty
remembering details. When I wrote I imagined a student in my general psychology
course and how some facts accompanied by interesting details would bring the
topics more to life. For example, I contrasted all the theories of therapy to
methods for one case. In the History chapters I included early Egyptian beliefs
as the beginnings of psychology rather than the Greeks.
