I've been reading a very interesting piece of research lately on the concept of experience taking. The article is:
Kaufman, G. F., & Libby, L. K. (2012, March 26). Changing Beliefs and Behavior Through Experience-Taking. Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. The idea is that we can become particularly absorbed into a book (or any "narrative", which I assume means TV or movies as well) in which the narrative is first-person and the characters are from our own social identity group. This absorption into the story can lead to attitudinal and even behavioral changes. Anyone else familiar with this line of research on "experience taking"? Michael Michael A.
