Rick asked, "So this raises the question: What is (are) your favorite song(s) to play? And, for bonus psychological relevance, why? "
And Gary asked, "how about foggy mountain breakdown....Dixie Darlin? Down the Road?" Foggy Mountain Breakdown is still OK although also massively over-played. Dixie Darlin' & Down the Road are perfectly fine tunes to play. You actually don't hear Dixie Darlin' very often in my neck of the woods. As for my favorite songs to play, I tend to like tunes with lots of chord changes and a really fast tempo. As for "why"....... that's easy it's tunes like those that separate the "men from the boys" (apologies to Alison Krauss) and let me show off. It's an ego thing., But I also love to play waltzes such as the Kentucky waltz that let me show off my tone, intonation, & facility with double stops. It's all about being the center of attention! And if we went deeper, I'd have to start talking about being an MZ twin & the role of competition in my childhood. Ed Edward I.
