The other missing point in this ad, is from what age is life expectancy calculated? In the U.S, there have been dramatic gains in the life expectancy from birth, due to the simple fact that almost all of us actually survive childhood, not historically true, and almost all women actually survive childbirth, again not historically true. By eliminating these deaths at early ages, life expectancy at birth has increased. Life expectancy at later ages has not increased as dramatically because the individuals who drag down the average are no longer counted (think about team batting averages for National and American League teams-assuming that the pitchers count in the National League-if not bad analogy).
