I'm pleased to hear that such an apparently off-topic thread as
medicine and the Talmud turns out to have psychological content. But
to call my comment "concern" is misplaced. I was actually being
facetious (note the :-) for once from me), as I've always been in
favour of wide-ranging discussion on TIPS. Here in Quebec we may
have language police, but on TIPS we don't need relevancy police.

In fact, I think I probably like the off-topic stuff the best. I
remember fondly the tussles we used to have over the relative merits
of religion and science, until the prime defender of the faith picked
up his marbles and left. Those were the good old days on TIPS.

We should also recognize the role of the irrepressible Michael
Sylvester. He's inevitably the one who starts these novel threads, as
he did this one with his searching question on whether Jews believe
in vaccination.

Disclaimer: Nothing in this e-mail should be construed as
encouragement for the posting practices of M. Sylvester. It probably
will, though.

Stephen
