Psychology Department Chair: The University of New England seeks a seasoned leader to be a steward of excellence in teaching and scholarship during an exciting time in the psychology department's development. The successful candidate will have experience in academic leadership (chair preferred), and a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching, scholarship and administration/service. The Department Chair is responsible for the successful fulfillment of all department duties, collaborates with university partners, leads the department in setting strategic goals, and serves on the Dean's leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for an established teacher-scholar interested in leading an already successful department to greater achievement. The second largest department in the College of Arts and Sciences, the psychology department houses 3 undergraduate majors (psychology, animal behavior, neuroscience), and we currently enroll about 215 majors and an additional 75 minors in these programs. All of our majors are growing in student interest, and the interdisciplinary programs we house link us to the College of Osteopathic Medicine, the Center for Excellence in Neuroscience, the Department of Biology, and the Department of Marine Sciences. The 10 full-time faculty in the department are a vibrant, collegial, and relatively young group of professionals, accomplished in teaching, scholarship and student advising/mentorship. Successful candidates will hold a Ph.D. in Psychology and preferably be able to contribute within the area of Developmental Psychology. Excellent organizational and intrapersonal skills are required. Experience working with interdisciplinary programs is desired.
