Are those allowed? A project I have worked on for the last few years has finally been published. It is intended to be a reference work for libraries and not for individuals, so I don't mind being 'shameless' as I don't expect anyone on the list to go out and buy it, but it would be nice to get the word out to libraries via list persons.
It is a 3-volume set: an Encyclopedia of Human Memory published by Greenwood/ABC-Clio. Your library can also by online access for a lesser fee (although the three books together are less than $100 each, which is cheaper than most textbooks of smaller size). It was written for a 12th grade reading ability audience so some professionals may find many of the explanations to be too simplistic but it was where there is now a niche in the market because there are high end books and then there are websites but nothing really for the average high school educated person. It was also a challenge to write entries for a high school education level so that some of them didn't succeed so well. (You try writing up the impact of neural network models on what we know about human memory for a high school audience! I didnt; one of my contributors did!) At times I felt very redundent explaining things like the logic of dual tasks or paired associate learning paradigms over and over again in many of the entries to explain how and why we think we know what we do. It is also intended to serve as a reference for AP students planning to study for the AP exams. OK enough shameless plug. If you need more info you can always backchannel me.
