At the end is this little blurb:
Are you a scientist who specializes in neuroscience, cognitive science, or psychology? And have you read a recent peer-reviewed paper that you would like
to write about? Please send suggestions to Mind Matters editor Gareth
Cook< http://garethcook.net/ >, a Pulitzer prize-winning journalist and regular contributor to NewYorker.com. Gareth is also the series editor of Best American Infographics< http://www.amazon.com/Best-American-Infographics-2013-Series/dp/0547973373 >,

1. I can think of several of you who are good candidates for writing
SciAm articles.

It should be noted that Scott Lilienfeld writes regularly for SciAm Mind; see:

2. When did "cognitive science" split from psychology?

Probably when the ratio of clinical psychologists to other psychologists in APA grew greater than 2:1. It is not unusual for experimental/cognitive/research psychologists to identify with cognitive science or neuroscience or cognitive
neuroscience or some other area instead of psychology, especially to
nonpsychologists, because the stereotypical psychologist in the popular
imagination is that of a clinical psychologist. Calling oneself a "cognitive
scientist" helps to cutoff questions like:

"Who has the greater suicide rate: psychologists or psychiatrists?"
Note: I was asked this question in a social situation with "civilians
and I have avoided identifying myself as a psychologist to nonacademics
and some academics.
