Interesting goings-on in the nether world of academic publishing. Apparently 
some publishers (Oxford specifically) have been trying to get authors to sign 
"work-for-hire" contract so that the publisher is named as the "author" (and 
various other author rights are terminated as well).

I realize that this piece is two years old, but I bring it up now because one 
of my York colleagues just had this stunt pulled on her by a publisher. 
Fortunately, she read the contract closely, caught the offending clause, 
refused to sign, and was offered a standard contract instead. 

Be on the lookout.
