Interesting goings-on in the nether world of academic publishing. Apparently some publishers (Oxford specifically) have been trying to get authors to sign "work-for-hire" contract so that the publisher is named as the "author" (and various other author rights are terminated as well). http://blogs.library.duke.edu/scholcomm/2012/01/25/who-do-you-work-for-faculty-author/
I realize that this piece is two years old, but I bring it up now because one of my York colleagues just had this stunt pulled on her by a publisher. Fortunately, she read the contract closely, caught the offending clause, refused to sign, and was offered a standard contract instead. Be on the lookout. Chris --- Christopher D.
