I thought it might provide some interesting ideas to people looking to
encourage a similar kind of student publication at their own school.
A couple of points:
(1) Slick with a lot of white space (this can be a good thing [graphic
designers suggest this to make a page more attractive] or a bad thing
[looks like one is padding the issue -- there is really less there]) and
graphics. Has anyone calculated the "cost" in time, effort, and money
(were specialized skills needed; how easy was it to get people with
those skills and did they have to be paid) for a single issue?
(2) Assumes one has high speed internet and lots of data transmission
in their account (an issue if one uses a cell phone as a hotspot modem).
Not everyone might read the issue on campus or a free-Wifi location.
(3) Is there a "swimsuit issue"? I'm sure that such an issue would have
both men and women and probably faculty. Will we get a chance to
see Chris Green is speedos? ;-)
