Oh, those anthropologists! A recently published research study suggests that the reason why human beings might have developed social skills, good social relationships, and stable society might be due to a reduction in testosterone levels.
I kid you not. The popular media has picked up on this research and here we have what the Washington Post has to say: http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/speaking-of-science/wp/2014/08/01/low-testosterone-could-be-what-made-us-civilized-humans/ Here's an article from a source named "University Herald" which I have not heard of but has a composite photo of a human skull, presumably before and after the testosterone drop; see: http://www.universityherald.com/articles/10715/20140802/decrease-in-testosterone-50-000-years-ago-made-way-for-art-and-advanced-tools-new-study-suggests.htm Of course, Duke University (where the researchers are from) put out a press release; see: http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2014-08/du-sbw080114.php And if one want to read the original research article, it is available on www.Jstor.org; see: http://www.jstor.org/discover/10.1086/677209?uid=3739832&uid=2&uid=4&uid=3739256&sid=21104028490161 Excuse me while I take my DHEA. -Mike Palij New York University [email protected] --- You are currently subscribed to tips as: [email protected].
