Alas, I do not have a WSJ subscription, so I cannot read the review. However, I 
am glad to see that Daniel Todes is still on the job. His 2002 book —  Pavlov’s 
Physiology Factory: Experiment, Interpretation, Laboratory Enterprise — was a 
major innovation in our understanding of Pavlov’s work.
