At the top of my reading list is the memoir, *On the Move*, by Oliver Sacks.

I'm glad that you mentioned this because I was looking it over
on Amazon (I've never found Sack's stuff interesting, perhaps
because I felt the Robin Williams portrayal of him in "Awakenings"
off-putting) and I thought that I should try to fit it in, especially
since it may be one of his last books. I also learned on Amazon
something that I did not know about Sacks:

He's a bodybuilder and into motorcycles.

The picture of him on the cover of "On the Move" supports this view but everything I've ever seen with him (e.g., interviews,
clips from science shows -- including one where he wears a
baseball cap with the letters "NYBG" which stands for the
New York Botanical Garden up in the Bronx, this was at a
time I was member there) would not lead me to think of him
as a body builder. I had my suspicions that he was gay but
never thought it important enough to confirm; the Amazon
material for "On the Move" mentions this. Which kind of
explains his weird relationship with the nurse in "Awakenings".

I have some textbooks to read as well, and I plan on putting
together a new course and some readings for existing courses. After that, I may take a break to simultaneously garden and think of weird and potentially offensive TIPS questions.

I don't know. Seems to me that you'll have to make a special
project of weird/offensive questions to TiPS if you want to compete
with our man in Daytona. ;-)

I've got a few books on the list including the Festschrift for Rich

that served as the basis for "American Sniper", and re-reading
the "Alice" books by Lewis Carroll along with some critical
analyses.

Anybody reading anything or are they just binge watching all
of the stuff they put off watching at the movies/TV during the
academic year? Or, horror of horrors, just going out to a
quiet place in the country, far from the madding crowd, and
living a life based on simple daily activities, trying to be in the
moment?

Or thinking up weird questions to ask on Tips? ;-)
