I can strengthen the minimal movement effect if I don't put my finger too close to the monitor screen. A gap of 5 - 7 cm works for me.

I had taken my children for their annual check up at the optometrist. While waiting for them, I started looking at a book of "magic eye" illusions. It took me about 30 min to see my first illusion but then after I could see the rest of them easily. I haven't tried any such illusions for years.

    By the way, I tried the "minimal motion" illusion but could not
    see the illusion of movement.  Perhaps I was doing it wrong
    or there's something wrong with my perceptual system.
