A student who took Psych of Lang with me about three years ago emailed
me about a strange story that is somewhat similar to what Genie (the
little
girl who experienced severe social deprivation and isolation for the
first12
or so years of life while she was "imprisoned" in her bedroom) except it
involves six brothers and one sister, it took place in a NYC Housing
Project on the Lower East Side, a NY filmmaker who ran into one of the
brothers on the street after he "escaped" and has made a documentary
about them called "The Wolfpack" (TM, Zach Galifianakis; there's a very
brief review in the NY Times, see:
http://www.nytimes.com/movies/movie/478627/The-Wolfpack/overview?emc=edit_fm_20150619&nl=movies&nlid=389166 )
,
and they will be interviewed on the ABC news program "20/20" on Friday,
June 19, 2015 (i.e., tonight).
Here is a link to the story that my student sent me:

Life sure can be strange.

P.S. The movie "The Wild Child" by Francois Truffaut is about the feral
child "Victor" who was the first child to be systematically examined and
trained by the French physician Gaspard Itard circa 1800. See the
Wikipedia entry:

P.P.S. The contemporary Wolfpack apparently are Quentin Tarantino
fans. Compare their photo from Sundance film festival where the
documentary
"The Wolfpack" was premiered with the "A Band Apart" image used in
"Reservoir Dogs":
