This coming Oct 1, just nine days from now, remember to raise a glass

Just a side note: Bruner is currently "University Professor" at NYU
and is located in the law school; see:

He is "associated" with NYU's College of Arts & Science psychology
department where he showed up in 1991 (he used to hold a weekly
seminar in a room down the hall from my then office). I'm not
exactly sure why he moved over to the Law School but there have
been a lot of changes in the A&S psych dept since 1991.
(If you're in the NYC area, I hear that an event has been planned
for Sept 26 by the Manhattan Psychological Association.)
For those who are interested, here is the MPA website address
which provides more info on the Sept 26 event:
http://mpapsych.org/mpaevents/
It's being held on Saturday at 2:30pm in the shiny new St. John's U
digs at 101 Astor Place (which is at 8th street aka St. Mark's Place
and Third avenue). This is a repeat of the celebration held for him
on June 30 at Fordham U (Harold Takooshian, current President of
the MPA, is also a Professor at Fordham). The June 30 meeting
had two parts: the first part was about psychology in Manhattan
and the second part was the celebration of Bruner. The three
hour meeting was reduced to a 60 minute video that is available
on the YouTube; see:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3EkFEH8blA&feature=youtu.be
Quoting from a description that Harold sent out:
|Its first 35 minutes feature the 8 learned panelists speaking about
|psychology in New York, then 25 minutes with three of Dr. Bruner's
|friends speaking about him.
So, if you don't really care about psychology in Manhattan, skip the
first 35 minutes.
I'm not completely sure but I think the woman speaking at the beginning
of the video may be Florence Denmark. Last time I saw her was
during the 1990s when we were both on the steering committee
for the psychology section of the New York Academy of Sciences.
One gets the impression that she will go on for forever.
