The Department of Psychology at Murray State University (www.murraystate.edu
) seeks to fill one tenure-track assistant professor position, beginning
August 2016.  Join a committed, enthusiastic group of teacher-scholars who
are eager to welcome new colleagues to the department.  Faculty members are
actively engaged in research and committed to teaching undergraduate and
master’s degree students both inside and outside the classroom (with
integration of research into teaching a standard practice).  Undergraduate
and graduate students are regularly involved in the process of research
with individually supervised research projects in collaboration with
faculty.

Area of specialization is open but preference will be given to candidates
who complement existing areas of faculty specialization.  The PhD in
Psychology must be completed by time of appointment (ABDs with a documented
plan of completion by appointment date will be considered).  Clinical
candidates must have a PhD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an
APA-approved program and licensure in Kentucky (or eligibility for
licensure within one year).  Successful candidates will provide evidence of
excellence in teaching, the ability to establish an active research
program, and the interest and ability to involve undergraduate and master’s
level graduate students in their research as well as to direct
undergraduate research projects and graduate student theses.

Candidates must have the ability to teach General Psychology and additional
undergraduate and master’s level courses in their areas of specialization.
Clinical candidates should also have the ability to serve as a Practicum
instructor supervising adult and child therapy and assessment cases in a
community-serving, sliding-fee-scale clinic based in the department. A
cognitive-behavioral orientation is preferred.
