Since I installed Tivo (April of 2005) I have had several instances where my screen goes completely black. I am using a Scientific America Explorer 4200 cable box.
This is only spordic, but it seems to happen upon a channel change. The channel changes and the screen goes black and does not come back on. It can happen while watching live TV or when Tivo is recording and first changes the channel. The cable box does not shut itself off but the screen goes black. The only way for me to get the picture and sound back is to turn the cable box off and then on again. Tivo is suggesting that this is a cable box issue, but I never had the problem before I installed Tivo into the mix. Does anyone have any clue what's happening or whether it sounds like the problem is Tivo or the cable box? I'm not sure what to do. Again, it only happens sporadically, but it has caused me to miss several shows that I was trying to record. Thank you. ------------------------ Yahoo!
