I have experienced thsi same type of problem previously and found that it was because my local cable company making random changes to the lineup on a regular basis. As you might imagine, it is very frustrating. My first suggestion on troubleshooting this problem, would be to see if the channel is being changed to the expected channel and then if the channel is actually what you think it is.
