I have a wireless 54Mbps Network with LinkSys SRX router. Have tried to play
some Tivo shows over the network and they play really spotty, image and
sound freeze all the time. I am a bit surprised, was expecting more :o) I
guess. My storage PC is in the other area of the house and I just drop the
transferred files from my laptop into it and let it do it's magic overnight
or in the morning and forget about it. Sometimes though I am in need of a
show that I stored and need to transfer it back to my laptop or just play on
the remote.
It could be amount of my RAM, don't know, but I never had any problems with
playing the same video files on my laptop, so the culprit is most
Seems like there is no buffering going on. The shows are all in Basic
Quality when transferred off the TiVo to my laptop.
Anyone tried this or on a faster connection with better results? I have not
tried to Ethernet two computers via the same router and see if it's going to
go any faster. I may do my laptops as they are in the same office room and
see if this makes any difference. Will probably go through the router rather
than direct connect.
