In October, my husband bought me a series 2 Tivo DVR with 140 hours
of recording capabilities.  It had been working fine (set up through
my wireless home network). Last Saturday,(5/20/06)it would not turn
on. I tried everything in the book, and when I unplugged it, waited
15 seconds, and then re-plugged it back in, I kept getting
a "Welcome...Powering Up" message.  It would go two or three minutes,
then go to the next screen "Just a few more minutes..." Then, the
Tivo would turn off, & I would be back to the regular TV.

I called customer service, and they suggested unplugging the network
card, then unplug the machine, both of which I did. The same thing
happened.  The customer service center said it sounded like the
machine was broken, and the would do a replacement.  I had them set
it up, and paid for the "advance ship" option, so I would receive my
replacement machine before I sent back the "broken" one.  Saturday
night, my Tivo started working again!

I just received an e-mail that they shipped me a "re-furbished"
machine.  Do these things usually get so wonky?  Is a re-furbished
machine acceptable or I accepting someone else's problems?

Tivo told me I could return my machine to the store where I bought
it, but then I would lose my Lifetime Subscription.

Any suggestions? I stayed up all night Saturday trying to watch the
season finales I had Tivoed in case the machine should fail again.  I
am very frustrated. (When the tivo came back on, it lost "my
pictures" and the games that had recently been added through Yahoo.

Any and all help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank You!

-Sherri
