Ok, thanks for your help. I went ahead and ordered an S3. When I'm
notified that it has shipped, I'll make an appt. with Time Warner Cable to
install the cablecards (I think TW requires that a tech set them up).
Should I go through the TiVo guided setup when it arrives or should I wait
until after the cablecards are installed? Will the tech be able to install
them if TiVo is not set up?

TiVo removed the 'only from TiVo.com' clause from the agreement very
soon after the S3 shipped. They will transfer lifetime to an S3
purchased from any vendor.

Deals come and go - I usually use sites like PriceGrabber.com,
Froogle, and Shopper.CNet.com to find the best deal of the moment.

The lowest I've seen them go is $650, but that was a limited time sale
via the TiVoCommunity.com store.
