I paid around $650 from Abes of Maine. It shipped promptly and arrived on time. The guided setup with basic cable went pretty smoothly and tomorrow I'm getting the cablecards from TWC. I also called to transfer the lifetime service from my old S1 which I hardly use any more. The transfer was quick and painless, except that now when I log into the TiVo website I can see my two S2s and my new S3 - all with lifetime service, but the old S1 is gone from the list. I would have expected to see it remain on the list indicating the free year of service.
I haven't ordered a wireless adapter for the new S3 yet. Is there any benefit to connecting it to the LAN other than faster service downloads? I read somewhere that the S3 would be able to play back MPEG 4. Is that still true? Jim [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
