MegaZone,
This is a question I have about the 'Desktop VIV' program that has become
available through TIVO. The way I understand it, I should be able to use my
current laptop configuration (Intel Centurino Duo) and the download plugin from
Bonjour and be able to use the VIV program. Am I not reading this right or do
you have an installation technique that I'm not familiar with.

You do need an MPEG-2 codec to play TTG files. If you have DVD
playback software on the PC, there should already be one installed.
But, if not, you need to obtain one. If you buy the TiVo Desktop Plus
it includes one. Or you can get one elsewhere.

That's what is used by default since TTG DRM uses a DirectShow filter,
but any DirectShow compatible player should work.
You can also strip the DRM using tools like DirectShow Dump, TiVo
Decode, TVHarmony AutoPilot, etc, giving you a raw MPEG-2 file that
works in any player that handles it.
