I don't know about the guru guides but in general I've removed the non-HD channels from my channel list so the TiVo only sees the HD channels... I'm on a series 2 so I'm not recording true HD (I'm using the composite out on an HD sat reciever and the picture is still better than SD)... Not sure if that helps at all but I hope so...
